What a default EKS cluster misses.

A cluster can be running and still lack clear boundaries, accountable access and useful incident evidence.

Review the operating boundary

  • Map IAM, Kubernetes RBAC and break-glass access.
  • Check workload identity and namespace boundaries.
  • Review network policy and admission controls.
  • Test whether logs, metrics and audit events answer an incident question.
  • Record owners and a prioritised fix list.

Do not treat a benchmark score as the outcome. The useful output is a ranked set of changes your team can approve and operate.
